How to Use Your Stencils

Stenciling comes in many forms, so we’re here to help. Below are guidelines for stenciling on different surfaces, as well as guidelines for stenciling with different types of tools and methods.

For all applications, prior to stenciling: Ensure surface is clean and dust-free. Tightly affix stencil to surface using painter’s tape or stencil adhesive.

Made a difficult personal art project easy

The stencil is made from tough plastic (nylon I think because solvents don't damage it), so it was easy to clean. Use a removable spray adhesive to hold it down. If you make a secondary adhesive tape stencil from this plastic stencil, the masking will be perfect. I think of necessity, the bridge to the sun in the center is not quite round so there is a little touch-up needed if you want the symbol to be correct (round).

Even though the Zia Pueblo tribe was never able to copyright the Zia symbol, please be respectful of its use. If you use the Zia sun for a commercial purpose, please consider a donation to the Zia educational foundation by contacting the Tribal Council at 505-867-3304. Southwest Airlines did just that before they painted their beautiful New Mexico airplane.

Disapointed

I am disapointed in this stencil. It does not look like your picture that you advertise.some of the stripes are cut and not connected this makes it hard to paint, the paint gets underneath because it moves. It is no good for the painting i had planed to use to for.
