Types of Stencil Materials

At Stencil Stop, we offer three high-quality stencil material options so you can choose what fits your project best. Whether you need a flexible plastic, cling adhesive, or durable metal, we’ve got you covered.

Mylar Plastic

Our Mylar option is a 14 mil semi-transparent flexible plastic. It’s durable yet bendable, suitable for many surfaces like walls, tables, concrete or wood.

Best for: repeat use on flat surfaces where flexibility helps.

Adhesive-Backed

This is a tack backed polyethylene layer (about 7 mil) designed to stick directly to curved or irregular surfaces—like barrels, cones, glass or metal. It’s single-use or light-reuse when minor damage is acceptable. It's like a sticker!

Best for: curved surfaces, very crisp paint edges, detailed work.

Stainless Steel

Our metal option is a 24 gauge stainless steel sheet, the most durable among our offerings. It withstands repeated use, heat, cleaning, and provides a premium long-term stencil solution.

Best for: industrial or commercial applications, high-volume reuse, “forever” stencils.

Choosing the Right Material

  • Need a flexible, general-purpose stencil? → Go Mylar.
  • Working on a curved surface or want very sharp edges? → Choose the Adhesive option.
  • Planning heavy reuse, industrial runs, or want premium durability? → Pick the Stainless Steel sheet.
