Stencils are essentially plastic or metal sheets with “holes” in them. The holes are what create the final artwork.
Custom stencils are stencils created from any file, image or design you submit.
Unlike more traditional printers, we don’t require any specific file type. You can submit a JPEG, PDF, PNG, TIFF, AI, PSD, a photo you took on your cell phone, or even a screenshot of what you want. Our designers will turn whatever you give us into a stencil. It's that easy!
Mylar
Mylar plastic is our most popular material for stencils. It's 14mil thick, which is as thick as 5-6 pieces of stacked printer paper. It's durable, semi-transparent, flexible, smooth to the touch, and can be reused hundreds to thousands of times. Every mylar stencil is precision-cut on our in-house laser cutting machines.
Mylar stencils are ideal for a wide variety of projects on a flat surface such as a wall, table, floor, canvas or when covering a surface with a repeatable pattern.
Adhesive
Our adhesive material is 7mil clay-covered polyethylene with a tacky backing attached to brown kraft paper. It's entirely flexible and can be easily bent, folded and cut to work on curved surfaces or in smaller spaces.
Adhesive stencils capture more detail and are thinner than mylar stencils, allowing you to get closer to your painting surface with paint, which results in crisper lines. However, they are meant to be single-use. They can be reused if there is minimal damage but may not yield ideal results.
Adhesive stencils are great for stenciling any flat surface, any curved surface and most apparel or fabric.
Metal
Metal is by far the most durable material we offer. We cut metal stencils from 0.6mm stainless steel, and they're significantly heavier than adhesive or mylar stencils. Metal stencils are stiff, long-lasting, dishwasher safe, heat resistant and make for the most aesthetically appealing product. They can be used similarly to a mylar stencil or even as a sign or piece of artwork.
Metal stencils are ideal for a variety of projects on flat surfaces and as reusable coffee stencils or wall art.

Shop Reverse StencilsThe custom stencil size you select is the size of the stencil’s artwork. For designs larger than 6 inches, we add about a 2-inch border on each side. For designs smaller than 6 inches, we add a 1-inch border on each side.
It’s OK if you’re not exact when picking a size. If your artwork’s proportions vary from what you’ve selected, we’ll communicate with you about your order's size and pricing. You’ll also see the exact sizing of both the artwork and the borders when you receive your proof. And you can request design edits until you’re happy with how your custom order looks.

Design proofs are emailed to you within 2-4 business days of ordering, depending on the size and complexity. Proofs show quantities, cut-out areas and artwork dimensions so you can see exactly what you’ll be receiving. You can request edits on your custom design until you’re happy with how it looks.
Proofs are free and custom stencils are designed by our team for no extra charge.
Orders are shipped within 2 business days of design approval. Shipping is free for all US orders that exceed $150.00.
Expedited shipping is available and will guarantee order delivery within 3 business days. Expedited orders skip the design proof approval process.

MATERIAL INFORMATION
Our stencils are made from durable 14 mil mylar plastic, which can be used hundreds to thousands of times. It's food safe and washable, so the possibilities are endless! 14 mil is about the same thickness as 5 or 6 pieces of paper.
Custom mylar stencils lay flat and are flexible for surface applications, such as wood, clothing, face painting, coffee and everything in between.
